Featured Server of the Month: February

MINEPLEX

This month, I am featuring Mineplex, a very popular server. Mineplex has a myriad of mini-games to play on their server. The games include Clans (Alpha Release), Dominate, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Wither Assault, Micro Battle, Snake Death Tag, Super Paintball, One In The Quiver, Sheep Quest, Dragons, Dragon Escape, Turf Wars, Runner, Super Spleef, Sneaky Assassins, Bacon Brawl, Bomb Lobbers, Evolution, Gladiators, Speed Builders, The Bridges, Survival Games, Ultra Hardcore, Wizards, Sky Wars, Draw My Thing, Castle Siege, Block Hunt, Super Smash Mobs, Mine-Strike, and Master Builders. They have a large and well established staff with a website, teamspeak, and forums. The average amount of players that could be on are from 15,000 to 35,000. There are many lobbies which include mobs representing the minigames to click on with nether portals, parkour, and Koth hill PvP. There are chests you can open to collect gagets, morphs, arrow trails, double jump effects, particles, mounts, death animations, pets, taunts, music, hats, and costumes. Cool features include the server currency, treasure shards (Prismarine shards), and gems (emeralds). Gems are used to buy kits for in -game uses, and treasure shards are for the cosmetic menu items and chests you can open to collect even more gems, treasure shards, and other cool items. 4 buy-able ranks are included on the server. These include the lowest, ultra, hero, legend, and titan. These go up in increasing levels. If you are Legend or Titan, you can open your own multiplayer server (MPS). You can moderate these games with a menu. You can choose the game and map, ban and unban, give others co-host (also includes a menu) and change game options. No gems or tresure shards can be earned in a MPS. Other ranks that require applications are builder, trainee, mod, c-mod (Clans), Sr. Mod, Dev (Developer/Coder), Sr. Dev, Jr. Dev, Admin, Twitch, Youtube, and Owner/Co-Owner. There are games constantly coming out, and new changes to in-game multiplayer servers, the lobby, and individual games. Mineplex usually has seasonal and holiday games. These can range from halloween to valentines games. The lobbies will also be decorated by the build staff to match the holiday that is current. Most popular games include clans, The Bridges, Survival Games, and Skywars.

Clans: Clans is a Mineplex customized version of factions, but less over-powered.

Bridges: In The Bridges, players are given a map and have chosen a kit. The 4 teams are separated by poisionous water, or the void. The players prepare for 10 minutes, then the bridges fall between the islands and middle, where chests containing supplies are located. The players fight to the death until there is one team remaining.

Survival Games: Survival Games is just like The Hunger Games (if you have read it). The 16 players (or 32 in case of teams) start on posts. When the game starts, players rush around trying to gain armor and weapons from chests around the map. Cool features include chest refill and a supply drop, containing iron or diamond loot. Eventually, deathmatch will come when there are 4 tributes remaining. The last tribute remaining wins.

Skywars: Skywars is a game where players start on a flotaing island above the void. 2 chests are placed on these island surrounding other, larger islands. The chests contain supplies, and can be used to build across to other islands. There are quarter islands that contain better loot on them. In the center is a larger island with zombie guardians protecting it. There is very good supplies in the center along with enchanting tables and throwing TNT. Eventually, the border will start to fall, forcing players to the center. Players fight eachother until there is only one standing, who is the winner.
